Do you have a duel filter between the tank and engine? If not its essential to fit one - the Racor style that is both a filter and water separator is the way to go.

Yes I have that. I normally drain some water out of that 1-2 times each season

OK its good you have it.

I am very surprised that you have to drain some water out of it so often!! I have seen water in mine once in 14 years of use!!

You might want to figure out how the water is getting in….. and do something to prevent it. Water often brings contaminants as well.
