I just put the boat in the water after winter storage, with DF115 from 2007. We’ve had it all the time.
The engine started as expected - but after 4-5 seconds it stopped with check engine warning 3-2 = MAP Sensor.
After this it does not turn on and the warning comes on as soon as I turn the ignition on. I am guessing some kind of safe mode?
When I turn the key I hear the initial beep and the fuel pump priming the engine (it sounds like it struggles, but it might also be the first time I think about the noice anyway?)
With the help of Google Gemini I checked the MAP sensor, and it looks fine. Gemini said it usually is a electrical problem anyway, so I checked the MAP sensor connector with a multimeter.
The left pinhole showed around 2,5 volts and the right pinhole showed 3,6 volts. Should have been 5 volts (?). Middle one showed 0 - But this is normal as it is the ground cable(?)
I was asked to check the connectors middle pinhole with the multimeter set to ohm / resistance at 20k and got a result of around 0,5 - 1,7.
This apparently shows that the ground cable is broken somewhere and this messes up the signals with the the ECU that then shuts it down and sends the warning signal.
Does all this seem correct?
The ECU and its connectors all look ok!
The ground ”connector” on the engine looks ok - it think I found the correct one slightly above the ECU location?
Gemini suggested to check the MAP Sensor ground cable, but also said it might be difficult since the cables might be a mess. So it said I could also cut it and replace it with a new cable and just ”forget” the current one.
So before I attempt this - does it all sound reasonable?
