  • 2008 175 four stroke leaking gas

Our 08 175 four stroke outboard has started leaking fuel. It was flowing from the seams in the cowling and upon removal is leaking from a tube that ends open in space and appears to be hooked to the fuel vapor separator? We dont see any loose clamps, the engine continues to run great! Any idea what is causing this and how to fix it? Thanks...

The vapor separator is a float chamber just like the bowl of a carburator. The float is apparently sticking, or there is some damage to the needle and /or seat, which should shut the fuel off when the chamber is full. Try tapping on the chamber to jar the float loose. Sometimes floats can stick if unused for awhile, and jarring it loose could get it working.
