  • Question on Motor seals 4hp 2 stroke.

I feel like a dummy, I put new rings on my DT4LF Suzuki and got it running. But when I first broke the motor apart the bottem seal fell out and I don't know whether to put the open end of the seal to the engine or towards the lower unit?
If someone knows about small engines could you please advise is Oil seal #13 suppose to be open towards the bottom of the engine and is Oil seal drive shaft #14 suppose to be open towards the bottom looking at the bottom unit or open towards the engine.
    (Please see Pic of Crankshaft.)

It started running very bad like it wasn't getting any gas, when I opened it up the upper crankshaft Oil seal #14 fell out and it was eaten up on the inside.
Sorry I'm so ignorant about this. Any help appreciated. Doug

The seals flat side should be towards the pressure if that makes sense.

Yes, it makes perfect sense. Flat side should face towards the motor.
Thanks, Gets kind of confusing sometimes.
