  • 2007 DF225 sheared drive gear shaft - buying advice

I am looking at buying a boat with a 2007 DF225 with 600 hours that has recently had a warranty replacement of a sheared drive gear shaft. This concerns me a little bit as I don't know what would have caused this? Is it a common problem with these engines? I have heard that you need to keep them well greased to avoid wrecking the splines and have read that they can be pretty noisy, but nothing of shearing.

If anyone can help out that would be great.

    Cheers
    Justin

normally the only way to shear a shaft is to hit a very solid object or slamming from full forward to reverse but that wouldn't be covered under warranty. i'd check to see every thing they replaced on it when the did the work only thing i would be worried about is the gear set.
