  • Electronics go crazy if changing the trim

While driving at around 5000 rpm with my RIB (2006 DF90) I tried to change the trim angle. The engine immediately went "crazy", resting in a "irregular idle".
Another attempt to change the trim had the same result (irregular idle).
The situation recovered after switching off the engine.

I had similar problem yesterday. I have a 2006 df 140,it ran fine most of morning but when I quit fishing and got on plane I went to trim, alarm sounded, all lights on tach lit up. Tried trim again same, gave it a minute and it was fine. Little while later it did it again, then it was fine.Could it be a ground as well?

        1. In addition to above ideas, make sure battery is not too old or terminals corroded/fouled. (Trim motor high power/current requirement causes weak battery voltage to drop below limit needed for proper work of electronics.)
        2. Check if the battery is charged. Voltage regulator may be a problem.
        3. If trim motor is getting old it may pull too much current even from a good battery. Less likely scenario.
