  • 1999 suzuki dt140 rev limiter

Any help would be appreciated...I have a 1999 suzuki dt140 ..When i get it up to 2500 rpm the rev limiter and the check engine light kicks in,it happens in both forward and reverse..also on land with the ear muffs on( doe snot have to be under load for it to happen)..originally it was happening only when i hit wakes but now it happens all the time..I have taken the unit apart all gears are good shifts in and out nicely...at this point im thinking maybe something electronic..again any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

I recently had the same type problem. After eliminating fuel contamination as a problem I figured out that it was the protection circuit in the ecu.

Something is making it not go over 2500 and it usually is the oil sensor or temp sensor. Try the oil reset on the side of the cowling. Make sure its oiling and the check valve is not locked closed. Also try disconnecting the temp sensor or the oil sensor to see if its throwing a false signals.

Is an alarm going off? assuming its hooked up.
