  • df150/2007 change drive shaft housing

    Hi
    (please excuse my poor English)

i have a df150, that hit a ground @ 45 knots, so the gearhouse is completly crushed, and there is a big (!) crack in the driveshaft housing.
my question is; can the housing be changed without lifting the powerhead? or do i need to tear down the whole lot?
    anyone been in to this?

    kind regards

    mid section cracked

Do you have machine shops that ban weld aluminum.
    FIRST...
Did you have insurance on the boat that would pay a dealer to repair this motor?? If so let them do it!!
If the crack is that ” big” , then you may have to pull the entire powerhead off to replace.
If not, then a welding shop that welds aluminum is a possibility? Depends on where and what is cracked, and if a good weld will seal, and hold it for years to come.
    Good luck.
