How do you use a continuity meter to set them? ThanksOriginally posted by BillCon View PostSolarman is there two different TPS sensors used? one for EFI and one for Carbed motors? because If, this motor is an 87' and a carburated model his TPS may not have Potentiometers in it to set with an ohlm meter, he may have the same one I, do that is simply an on/off signal switch that bumps the timing 5 degrees at 3 degrees advance throttle, and then again at 20 degrees, I, usually set mine with a continuity meter.

dt140, carbs, running issues
Ellis, did you replace the coils that had bad leads, or just the leads? Did you get your manual? You had fire/ spark jumping on #2 lead, now no spark, correct? Have you changed anything since working on the coils? Have you checked plug connectors for all the wires under the flywheel for corrosion/ good connection?
Your one cdi unit sends current to all 4 plugs one at a time, according to the pulse coils/ trigger coils. If the cdi is sending to any plugs, then it is ok.
Let us know if you changed anything.

Yes I replaced the coils and yes got the manual and an ohm tester and it looks like that the tps. and idle speed control are bad no reading at all on 3 positions on idle control and incorrect readings on the tps. and looking at the manual and not ever using an ohm tester before I can't figure how to interpret the diagram on the connections for the secondary coils. I did set the gear counter at .003 and moved the idle speed switch back and forth but nothing else that I can think of. Ellis, If sure they're bad, I'd take a photo of wiring connections, and mounting if need to. Then take the parts with me to a Suzuki dealer to match up, and while there ask if they can test to make sure. And ask if there's an easy way to set the tps up. They might give a few pointers? unless you plan to order online?
Good luck, let us know what happens.
