  • 92 DT85 Shift Linkage

    Hello All,

Im relatively new at boat motors. However I am mechanically inclined.

I own a 92 DT85 I recently took on replacing the impeller in prep for this season. I did so without a hitch until I went to re-install the lower unit.

I have to be missing something. I am reinserting the lower unit then tightening the linkage bolt up in the motor. However it doesn't seem to want to grab the lower unit like it did when I took everything apart.

Does anyone have proper direction on how the hell I reconnect the shift linkage on this motor??

Any guidance would be very helpful

    Thanks

I may be reading wrong what you are trying to say?
Are you saying you can't get the lower unit back on correctly? is it bolting together properly? The lower unit has to come together completely before it is bolted together. Then the linkage should be attached, but you have to check that it is shifting completely into forward, reverse, and neutral.

Not sure if this answers your problem?

    Post back when able.
