Hi, have renewed recoil spring with two new plastic bushes, lightly greased the spring with spring grease, now find it worse than before, rope not retracting fully after pull, spring was a new one, from Suziki, I feel something is sticking, one thing I do not like is the pull cord route, as the entry hole in the bottom cowling is somewhat higher than the entry hole into the starter.

If not missing any parts when you put it back together, then sometimes the spring needs an extra turn, or two before winding the cord and pulling the first time. Then when it recoils it should still have enough spring tension to pull back in snug.
I can't pull up your parts pic to see what recoil setup your motor has.
