  • Suzuki DT140 Momentary High Idle after starting

After winter layup 1990 DT140 idles at 1600 RPM for 15 sec. or so after starting. It then settles down to 700 RPM. It does this every time, even when warm. This motor has never acted this way in the 7 years I have owned.
Was running good prior to storage and replaced plugs and throttle position sensor last year.
This is running on muffs in driveway and have not got on the water yet.
Any ideas what's causing this ?
I don't see anything under the cowling sticking or moving when the RPM's do drop.
New battery and primer bulb also.

Is your TPS adjustable? Usually they have certain voltage specs when properly adjusted.

If you've changed the tps (carb), TVS (efi system), your computer does this automatically. It is normal. It is part of the start up procedure listed in manual. Your motor is fine, do not attempt to change anything.

Let us know of anything else. Good luck. Hope you get to put it in water.

        OK. Thanks.
I just don't recall the high idle like that, especially when warmed up.
Guess I've been off the water too long.
        Thanks
