  • Rev limiter

I have a 2006 DF200, when I would turn my key on before starting the tachometer would go up to 5,000 then zero out then I would start the motor. Just last night when I turned the key on it only went up to 1,000 then zeroed out. The motor started and ran fine and the tachometer was working fine also. I've read that when the key is turned on the tach will go up to the set rev limiter and then back to zero. Could this just be a tachometer problem or is it some kind of warning?

The initial tach movement when you turn the key on has nothing to do with the rev limit. It is in fact an indicator of engine hours.

So if yours went to 5000 it would be 500 hours. After it hits a certain level it resets, I can't remember exactly but look at your owners manual it may give you more details of what happens over 500 hours.

    Nothing to worry about.
