Interchangeability

I have a 2000 DT40. I want to add power tilt/trim and electric start. I can get a DT55 with all the equipment i want but the power plant is done. Can I use the 55 parts on the 40 or can I swap power plants??

Can try looking up part numbers you're interested in using, for the dt40, or dt55, click on those part numbers, you should go to a page that will tell you what year and size motors those parts were used on. If part numbers don't match between the motors, they probably won't fit.
