Changing Water Pump Question

I have a 2018 200hp Suzuki. I'm going to change the water pump this weekend and I was reading the service manual and it says to disconnect the battery. Is it really necessary to disconnect the battery even if the key isn't even in the ignition?

Is this the AP model? Fly by wire??

If yes, it is necessary.

And also you should check the service manual or google this specific model as it is a different procedure and if not done right you have big problems. Not the same procedure as a mechanical control engine.

Yes its a DF200AP Fly by Wire. I will make sure to disconnect the battery. I'm curious though what is the reason for it?

The manual says I need to remove the main relay or shift actuator fuse from the fuse box before removing clutch link to avoid shift actuator damage. Does anyone know where this fuse is located and how to tell I'm pulling the right fuse?

One last question: The manual says to use a sealant on the mating surfaces of the gearcase and driveshaft housing. It also says to add sealant to the 7 gearcase bolts. Is this necessary? I have the Suzuki grease but no sealant.

My service manual states the same thing. When I replaced the water pump there was NO evidence of any sealant applied at the factory. I didn’t put any sealant as per service manual. There are holes in the leg to allow water to drain, those same holes allow water to flood the impeller chamber so my thinking is the impeller housing has water on both sides. (Inside and outside) Could be wrong though.
