  • 1999 DT150 intermittent tach issue

So i just finished a repower. Ran all controls back to the proper plugs... had the tach working at idle first startup, then it pegged to 7k while idling...now nothing. Any ideas or starting points? This is an EFI model. This is my first zuke as well as Injection outboard. Thanks In advance!

Also. The tach is sealed at the back, not one with the posts for the round connections. I also have a separate monitor gauge that seems to work fine.

On back of the tach there is probably a rubber plug, inside is a slotted screw. Notice what positon it is in (3, 6, or 12, I believe) then turn it back and forth a couple times, it only has 3 positions. Put it back where it originally was, replace the plug, then see if it works again. Sometimes that switch gets a little carbon build up in the contacts.

If still not working, you may have to replace the tach.

Good luck, post back on what you find out.
