Suzuki gt85 gear selector rod removal

Hi, new to this forum and looking for help. dropped the leg on a DT85 and unable to pul the gear rod from the lower housing.
looks like the rod may be deformed and preventing it sliding out of the housing. Was thinking about drilling it. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance

Do you have a Suzuki manual? The rod is attached to a shift fork in transmission, gears, need the manual to disassemble without breaking.
