    Please take a look at the attached video. I just had my prop shaft replaced and the lower unit gone through. With the engine in gear, I can turn the prop about an inch before it catches either direction. The result is the same whether you're in forward or reverse. Is this typical? Thank you in advance!

    I have never done a prop. shaft, reading my service manual it’s the in/out distance of the prop. shaft is the correct way to check. Proper shaft thrust play is 0.2-0.4 mm. for a 2009 DF90A, your’s may be different since it’s a different engine. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chine in.

      Looks about right to me. Just looked at mine, appears to be near an inch. That is the simple play between gear teeth forward and reverse. Once it engages it sits against the that side of gear and propels the boat.
      No worries. Go run the boat for 10 hrs and replace the oil. That is where you will discover any issues.
