  • df70 reversed polarity

We have an 08 Suzuki DF 70 outboard.
Somehow a discharged battery got taken off for charging and hooked back up backwards.
There is no response now from the starter or the PTT.
We are in a small town in Alaska without a Suzuki dealer to address this issue to.
The motor is on a skiff used for commuting, not pleasure.
The manual is not overly instructive except to say do not do this or the electrical system may be damaged.
The wiring diagram shows a starter motor relay and a PTT relay in that order but no apparent fuses or breakers.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Read the "Sticky white wire problem"
There is a inline fuse in the white wire that feeds the ignition and remote PTT switch
This wire then feeds power tothe ECU
I would suspect you may have shorted it out
Is there not a fuse box located close to the ECU?

'''''' With a bit of luck you have only blown the thirty amp fuse on the motor, if it had of been a df140 the main fuse is sixty amp and it would have toasted you stator and reg.
