  • 2014 DF 175 Running rich consuming more fuel

    Need help.
Have a pair of 2014 DF175 Counter rotating.
When I go offshore the port engine starts to make a "diesel" like ticking noise after trolling for several hours and then doesn't go away. I suspect it may be an injector as this engine will burn 6-8 more gallons of fuel on a 60 mile round trip.
Took to Suzuki dealer they charged me $400 to adjust the valves and gave me 2 bottles of Yamaha Ringfree addiditve. (Which I was to run thru two tanks of gas) The snake oil obviously didn't help, neither did the $400 valve adjustment. Both motors run smooth and no performance issues or drivability issues. No codes either. Any suggestion on why one engine is burning much more fuel?

Disconnect a plug wire or injector plug and see if the noise changes, you might be able to see what cyl it is, if it don't change, it might be a weak or broken valve spring.
That would make it use more fuel, the map signal voltage would be higher at a given rpm. Without hearing the noise myself, it is hard to put a finger straight on the problem.
