DT 140 and DT 115 Questions

I have a 1989 DT140 that has a bad lower unit. Will a 1997 DT115 lower unit fit on the 1989 DT 140 as long as it is the same length? Will the power and throttle cabling (shifter, starter switch, and throttle) that worked on the 1989 DT140 work with the DT115 motor?

In general what years will DT140 or DT115 motor parts work? It seems from about 1981-2001 from what I can tell from my research.

the best way to check is to look at the part #s of your case online (above, purchase suzuki parts) click on that part for your motor, it should go to a page that lists, all the years and models and sizes of the motors that case was used on. The gear ratio is bound to be different between them. If the case part# does not list the '89 dt140, it probably wont match? But that is not a sure bet (Could have an extra weep/drain hole in the next generation case?).
