  • DT65 won't start

Hi, we have a DT65 serial number 06502 502986 - it has fuel but no spark at any of the plugs - Can anyone advise the order of checking any sensors or anything else in order to get the ignition circuit working again - it worked 2 months ago if that helps!... many thanks and regards

The serial number indicates it is a 1985 year dt65.

Using the Suzuki service manual for your motor.

If there is no spark at any plug, the first check would be to the wiring connections of the primary coil (#4 on magneto parts list). The service manual should also tell you how to test and what ohms it should read.

You might also need to check the manual to see if it tells you how to test the ECM (electronic control module).

If you remove the flywheel, inspect the condition of the magnets, coils, and the crankshaft key, be careful screwing a puller in too far causing more damage. I have seen magnets fall out and damage the coils in a magneto. Also sheared keys will change the motor timing.

Many parts for these older motors are not available. You might find used parts through Google by searching the exact part number for your motor's part?

Good luck, post back on what you find out.
